Cary Lazy Daze
This past Saturday, rain or shine, the Town of Cary hosted yet another successful Lazy Daze art festival. The yearly event welcomes thousands of local and out of town visitors each year. Even though the economy has hit the pocket books of families hard, many came out in the rain to enjoy the yearly art event in support of local artists. Art festival vendors view Lazy Daze as one of the premier art fairs in order to financially support their art endeavors throughout the rest of the year. For some, art festivals are one of the only ways that artists can sell their art to the masses without opening a brick and mortar location. This year’s event was successful but definitely lacked the number of visitors that attended the jam-packed event in years past. This year, visitors had ample room to shop and without doubt carried less shopping bags. The combination of less spending money and bad weather proved to be a trying variable for festival vendors. After this year, many local artists may decrease the number of festivals they participate in until the economy rises up and people have more purchasing power.
